Food Standards Agency (FSA)

Food Standards Agency is a Non-Ministerial Department sponsored by Food Standards Agency. The organisation’s objectives, powers and duties are mainly set out in the Food Standards Act 1999. The FSA’s main objectives, set out in law, is to safeguard public health from the risks arising from the consumption of food and generally protect the interests of consumers in relation to food. The FSA works closely with the UK Government and the governments in Wales and Northern Ireland, but acts independently and transparently, led by science and evidence.

Regional Remit

FSA operates in Northern Ireland, England and Wales. Their headquarters are located in London.
