The Water Services Regulation Authority (OFWAT)

The Water Services Regulation Authority is a Non-Ministerial Department sponsored by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs. We are the economic regulator of the water and sewerage sectors. We must act in a way best calculated to: protect the interests of consumers, wherever appropriate by promoting effective competition; make sure water companies properly carry out their functions and are able to finance their functions; further the resilience objective with respect to water companies’ water supply and wastewater systems.

Regional Remit

OFWAT operates in England and Wales. Their headquarters are located in West Midlands.
